Valentine Boxes

What creative and fun students and parents we have in our class.  The students outdid themselves on the darling boxes today.  I only gave out 6 awards....and that was so hard....because we had such fabulous entries!
The "prettiest" entry was a flower pot filled with flowers. The "most hearts" entry had hundreds of hearts attached.  The "sportiest" entry had medals wound all around the top of the box.  The "out of this world" entry had us thinking we were living in the times of castles and knights.  The "most creative" and "most original" valentine boxes were a cell phone and a cute girl that you put the valentines into the mouth.  Too fun!  As you can see though, all the boxes were incredible.  And, my favorite part, the class was excited for the awards even though they might not have been the one to receive it.  What great friends this class has in each other!

100th Day of School Celebration

Thank you so much for those who made sure their child had a collection of 100 items for our celebration on Tuesday.  We had cards, cereal, candy, marbles, coins, craft items, etc.  We weighed and measured our collections.  My favorite idea was the collection of 100 pencils that was then shared with the class at the end of the day.  Pencils are running in short supply, and they were very needed.  Thanks!  Thanks also to our three room-moms that came and had fabulous activities and treats.  The students tried to work as a table to stack 100 pennies and then we had a race between tables to complete puzzles that had 100 pieces each.  For snacks the students enjoyed "100" calorie cookie packs and had water bottles with a 100 day label and drink mixes attached.  The students loved it.....and let's face it.....so did I!  Thanks so much!

100th Day of School and Valentine's Day!!

February 8th is the 100th day of school.  To celebrate, I would love for each child to bring a collection of 100 things.  It could be something they already collect (matchbox cars, baseball cards, etc.); it could be 100 household items (toothpicks, rubber bands, etc.); it could be 100 food items (Cheerios, Fruit Loops, etc.).  Just make sure they have 100 of something.  I appreciate your help!

Valentine's Day is coming up on Monday, February 14th.  We are asking that each child bring a decorated box from home to collect their valentines inside.  If your child chooses to bring valentines, please make sure no one is left out, and that the messages are kind.  I will send home a list of students in their Friday folder in case they want to personalize the envelopes.

Thanks so much!  Have a great February!
