January Pro Winners

At our January assembly we had a student from our class receive the "Pro Award" for having so many pro bucks for good behavior in the pro bank!  Good job!
Another student from our class had her name drawn out of all the pro bucks for a prize.  What a lucky girl!

February is Around the Corner!

Wow...time is flying by so fast this year!

Hopefully each of you received the note from the PTA about the 100th day activity they are sponsoring with the shoebox floats.  If you did not receive the information, please contact me, and I will get you another note.  The PTA does a lot for the students at McKinley, and I would love for our students to participate.

Remember Parent/Teacher conferences this next week.  I have recieved word back from each family and am excited to meet with you to discuss your child's progress.

For our oral speaking assignment in February, the students will be doing a "Person or Thing I Love" speech.  I will send home a note next week with the assigned dates for each student.

Our class voted today to make their own Valentine boxes at home.  We will have some small awards for "Most Original" "Most Hearts" "Sportiest" etc.  I will send home a note with the names of the students in our class next week so the students have plenty of time to address Valentines.  If your child does not want to send Valentines, that is fine.  I just ask that if they do decide to bring them, that they include all students in our class.

I have a great class this year.  I am really enjoying being their teacher.  I appreciate all the support you give me as parents of these awesome kids!

DIBELS this week!

This Thursday and Friday our school is having the DIBELS testing completed.  We anticipate that third grade will be tested on Thursday.  Please make sure your child is reading their baggie books nightly and that they can easily pass off the high frequency word lists.  Each week our goal is for each student to read at LEAST 100 minutes.  Please record those minutes and sign in their green cougar folder.  I am looking forward to parent teacher conferences on February 1st and 2nd.  I am eager to discuss your child's progress with you.

No Missing Work Notices This Week

I will not be at school on Thursday or Friday, so I will not have missing work notices in the folders this week.  The students are doing quite well on staying up to date on thier assignments....yeah!  It always gets better as the year progresses.  We have DIBELS coming up the end of the month.  Make sure your student is practicing the high frequency words nightly, and also reading AT LEAST  100 minutes per week.  Thanks for all you do!
