Christmas Party

On the 21st we had two amazing room moms come in to do a party for us before the Christmas break.  Thank you Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Hill!  We did a scrambled carol page, made reindeer donuts, played the left-right game and had a tossing of the Christmas card game.  Corby the Cougar also came dressed as Santa, and he and his elf passed out treats and gave each student a book.  It was a great way to start off the Christmas break!  Thanks PTA and room moms!

Christmas Caroling

I should have taken more pictures while we were out caroling!  We had a lot of fun caroling as we walked around the school and through a neighborhood.  We took a few boxes of chocolates to deliver as we sang.  Mrs. Rhodes (who volunteers in our classroom four times a week) came and met us for us to sing to her.  We were going to walk to her house, but we were getting too cold!  We also stopped by two of our students' houses to sing to their moms.  We sang through the halls at McKinley also.  It really helped me get in the Christmas spirit!

Making Tin Punch Ornaments

What a creative group of kids!

Tech the Halls

One of our writing assignments for December was all iwant for Christmas.....like the ipad logo.  The kids wrote out their Christmas letters on ipads for the techno Santas.  It turned out really fun!

December Pro Winners

I was so excited when all three pro winners for the third grade were from our class for December!  Good job girls!  Also, one of the boys from our class also had his name drawn out for a box of cereal.

This last Friday was our student teacher, Mrs. Christensen's, last day of student teaching. She did an amazing job.  I would say we are going to miss her (which we will on a daily basis), but she has told us she is going to come and volunteer in our room some during the rest of the year.  I am so thankful!  The kids were sad to see her go, but glad that they will still get to see her.

Also, on Friday, our class made signs for one of our fourth grade students in our school.  He is competing on a television show on the Spanish channel that is a lot like America's Got Talent.  We wanted him to know that we are rooting for him!  (This was also a math assignment.  The groups each had dimensions that they had to measure and make sure their signs fit those specifications.)

New Trimester

It is the beginning of a new trimester.  Hopefully you all received your child's report card before Thanksgiving.  We are starting over with a clean slate for missing work in the new trimester.  Please make sure your child is staying current on assignments.  Also, please remember to record your child's reading minutes on the Ken Garff tracking sheet in his/her folder.  If you have lost it, please let me know, and I will get you a new one.  The minutes are recorded every Monday by a PTA volunteer, so please make sure they are up to date and sent on Mondays.  I am posting some fun Thanksgiving pictures:
